Our Story

The Low Key in High Heels Boutique was a crazy idea that started over dinner with my sister in the winter of 2017.

I am a wife, a mom of three, and an 8th grade teacher. I knew I needed a side hustle, but it had to be something that I could do from home. I started Low Key in High Heels from my living room after the kids were in bed. The boutique quickly expanded, and was moved into my dining room. I hosted private parties, packing the boutique into my Honda Pilot, and even hosted Open Shopping Saturday afternoons in my house.

In the Spring of 2019, I knew that I needed to make another move. The boutique needed to expand. One Saturday in March 2019, my husband and I went on a drive. We needed a builder, and we had an idea. By the late afternoon, the most wonderful Amish family offered to help us. We started brainstorming the tiny house build at their kitchen table. Soon after, we found a trailer in New Hampshire, and began the build in April 2019. What began as a brainstorm, became a full on family project in the spring of 2019. Between April and June, we painted 108 12-foot long pieces of ship lap, measured and cut countless pieces of insulation, built a dressing room with handmade barn door, hung shelves and piping, installed flooring, and ran electrical. I knew I wanted the tiny house to be a year round party, we needed heat and AC!

In May of 2021, we were ready for another leap! We opened our first storefront in the new PineCrest Plaza in East Greenbush. We now had a home. We added to our strong team, and are able to offer more shopping hours than ever before. Each team member is genuine, always willing to help, and most importantly always makes customers feel welcome and appreciated. This boutique is much more than my own vision, these ladies help shape the future of Low Key in High Heels, and the work they contribute is invaluable.
